The finish of this piano is incredibly “alligatored”. I was very surprised at how well it tuned up considering how dry it must have been over the years to make the finish shrivel up like this. I guess they don’t make them like they used to.

This is the underside of a clavinet. Over time the little orange tips (which sort of fret the strings) turn into a gooey, gum like texture. A pain to scoop out and put new ones in. You need patience and some inventive ways of digging out these little buggers!

As I was tuning this late 70’s/early 80’s Baldwin upright I noticed it had no serial number. How is it possible that no one in the factory noticed?  They made some pretty horrible pianos toward the end.

Spending the whole day tuning at Lesley College (Cambridge) practice rooms. At least its air conditioned and most pianos are new Yamaha P22’s.  Could be a lot worse.  No complaints.
