Humidity Control Installations

Effect of humidity on pianos

Which system should I get?

Although there are a number of different climate control systems for pianos, I highly recommend the Piano Life Saver system from Damp-Chaser.  They have been around for well over 50 years and they know what the are doing.  I am speaking from first hand experience as I have installed one in every piano I have ever owned.

Why would I need one?

Truthfully –  you might not.  The ones that would benefit most are pianos on an outside wall, next to a drafty window, or close to a heat source (radiator, base board heat, fireplace, etc.).

The idea behind a humidity control system is to keep the wood of your piano some where between 40-50% humidity.

You’d be surprised how well they work, and they really are not all that expensive.

I recommend humidity control systems for:

  • Vintage or Antique
  • Heirloom
  • Chinese/Indonesian pianos
